My law office primarily is involved in the following areas: Family (divorce, child support and paternal/maternal relationships), gay & lesbian legal issues (contracts, division of joint property and litigation),contracts (drafting, review and dispute), entertainment (drafting of contracts, litigation, breach of contract), Corporate (certificates of incorporation, bylaws and litigation), bussiness (tansactions and litigation) and collection of monies. My bussiness clients ranged from sole proprietorships to small partnerships, that I helped to start out and grow. My practice involves all types of transactions, and both plaintiff and defense litigation. My clients include both companies, individuals and families. The subject matter of the claims I litigate and defend range from gay and lesbian division of assets to personal injury. My transactional practice includes contract drafting, document review, new business formation (non stock and stock corporations and partnerships)and personal injury. I represent clients from different countries on Puerto Rico matters. I strive to maintain a close and individual relationship with my clients, and to meet the client's needs efficiently and professionally.
My future goals include taking advantage of the growing opportunities becoming available over the Internet for the benefit of the legal community, and taking advantage of every opportunity to continue giving my clients unique, dedicated and skilled legal representation. Also, I will expand my legal services to gay, lesbian, bisexual and transexual community in every legal aspect of their lives, whether is related to their sexual orientation or any other matter as a human being. Attorney Biography
María de L. Otero-Rivera obtained an undergraduate degree from the Universidad del Sagrado Corazón, San Juan, Puerto Rico in 1989 and a magna cum laude Law degree from the Puerto Rico Interamerican University in 1998. She is a member of the Puerto Rico Bar Association since January 1999.
Prior to study law, Otero-Rivera held many and different positions in the Entertainment Industry, such as: Production and Promotions Coordinator, Assistant Production Manager, Producer, Set and Property Designer and Lighting Technician.
